Plant Hill School Furniture Project
Blackley Forest
Manchester
1999

Oak and softwood. Commissioned by CTAC, funding by Greening Greater Manchester Landfill Tax Credit Scheme and sponsored by UK Waste.
Completed June 1999.

Monkey Business set up a special team for this project, which included two furniture designer/makers and a guest artist, to deliver a varied programme of workshops culminating in the production of a set of innovative furniture and its installation in Blackley Forest.

The first stage of the project was a series of art activities aimed at exploring and understanding the nature of the site, and opening up a wide scope to the way in which the pupils approached their designs. The twenty four pupils teamed up into five groups and with the technical support of the furniture designers, were able to realise their final designs and produce two seats and two picnic tables with seating.
